"Jesus, Nick. The car is worse than your hotel rooms!"
I nodded absentmindedly as I searched for a small bill in my wallet for the valet guy. How could I accumulate so much stuff in my wallet? The other day, Rachel was looking through it for a dollar for the jukebox. I probably shouldn't have let her do that, huh? I'm sure I had incriminating things in here.
What the hell was she talking about, anyway? My car and hotel rooms ? Huh?
I finally found a $5 and handed it to the guy, but I looked up and caught her eye. All right, a ten? She smiled at me as I handed the guy another bill, and I rolled my eyes at her as she pulled herself up and into the Escalade. Of course, the valet guy got to her first and helped her up. That was my job!
She was better at this tipping thing than I was. Usually I had Frank or a manager or publicist, someone else to take care of the real life stuff. Tipping was definitely real life stuff. How the hell was I supposed to keep it straight? 20% in restaurants I could remember. That math was easy for even me! But then there was $20 for the pedicure woman, $5 for the guy who took our bags to our suite - per bag - and apparently we had to leave money for the housekeeping staff every day. Wasn't this hotel expensive enough?
I climbed into the driver's side and caught her laughing at me, "What now?"
"You aren't listening to a thing I'm saying, are you?" she pouted. "Maybe I just need to go back to New York. You're more attentive when I'm not here all the time."
"Don't even!" I threatened, reaching over and locking her door before kissing her quickly. But when I tried to pull away, she caught me, sighing against my lips, teasing me with the tip of her tongue. Damn, I loved kissing her. She tasted like the Midori sour she'd had while we waited in the bar for the car to be brought around. Too soon, she released my lips and I nuzzled her neck until I heard a car horn. Oh, we were probably blocking traffic, weren't we?
She giggled as I pulled away from the hotel and then she turned around, waving at it. My girlfriend was a freak.
"Thank you, Nick."
I glanced over at her, "For what?"
"For what? This Miami and the cool hotel " She caught my eye, and I felt that familiar warmth in my heart as she reached for my hand, "All of it. Thanks."
I shrugged, "Calm before the storm, baby. Now, what were you saying about my ride?"
"So you were listening?"
"Maybe I have better things to do than clean out the car, Rache. Besides, you slept the whole way down. You didn't say anything about it then."
She reached down and grabbed a McDonald's wrapper off the floor, stuffing it into a stray plastic bag on the dashboard. "See? Instant trash can."
"Cool! Maybe I should pull over and we can clean up?"
"Funny, Carter, keep driving. We have to get to Marathon eventually."
I just sighed, letting her clean up everything she could reach as I navigated us out of Miami and toward the inevitable. Aaron had called three times this morning wanting to know when we'd get there, and I'd kept putting him off. Before I knew it, the nice woman at the front desk had called to politely ask if we needed to extend our stay.
It's not like Rachel hadn't met most of my family. Well, Mom and Aaron. They were the worst. Dad would like her. She was pretty, so that was a no-brainer. And BJ and Leslie would think she was cool. They liked Sudden Silence. Aaron had mentioned that. Angel she'd think whatever Aaron did. They had that weird twin thing.
Aaron. Rachel was right, he did look up to me, I guess. And he'd hated Willa. For many reasons, I guess, but mostly because she took me away from him. Whenever I wasn't working, I'd wanted to be with her. I looked over at Rachel, who was humming along to the radio, her bare feet up on the dashboard as she stared out the window at the ocean. I guess in that way, our relationship wasn't that much different. Vinnie was right. I was such a pushover with girls. But that didn't mean I was "whipped" or whatever. I just I wanted to be happy. Was that wrong?
Rachel made me happy. I wanted to introduce her to my family and let them see how happy she made me. Sometimes I really felt like a part of her family and I wanted her to feel that way with us, too. I wanted her to understand our inside jokes and stuff. I couldn't wait to take her out on the boat and have time to just bum around for a week. Maybe we'd sail down to Key West and I'd get her the best Key Lime pie I could find. She'd like that we'd have fun.
Then
why did I feel my stomach turning into knots?
I
reached over, smoothing his hair away from his face. "What's wrong, bunny?"
What happened to my happy, relaxed Florida Nick? We weren't ten minutes away
from the hotel, and he looked worried and stressed out. It couldn't be Miami
traffic. It was only about three in the afternoon, too early for rush hour.
We should be in Marathon by dinnertime.
He looked at me with a fake smile, shaking his head so his hair fell back on his face, "Nothing."
"Nick "
Sighing, he looked back at the road. "Maybe we should go back. We're really good on our own, aren't we? You're still tired from the tour. Maybe it's better that you meet my family another time."
"No! I want to meet them now."
He smiled at the whine in my voice. "Well, we'll be there soon, buttercup."
"That's not what I meant." It was what I whined, I guess. He brought out the spoiled little girl in me sometimes. He'd indulged my every whim for the last few days. Just one pout and he'd do anything for me. It was wonderful, but I needed to start acting like a grown up again. "It's just it's time."
"Time for what, baby?"
"For me to meet your family. Isn't it? I mean we're not just casually dating, right?"
"Of course not! Why would you even say that?"
"I didn't. But it's been a few months now, and we're serious, and that means I need to get to know your family. You know mine already. I don't want to put it off any longer."
He took my hand in his, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it. "We're going. I want you to meet them. But I want it to be perfect, you know?"
"Yeah Nick, I'm really sorry for the way I acted with your friends. I was cranky and miserable and that so wasn't fair to them. I promise I'll be better with your family."
They were going to hate me. Willa had ruined his family for all other girlfriends. Besides, I was too old for him anyway. Jane had been okay that day we went shopping, but maybe she'd had time to reconsider. After all, he hadn't really been home for very long before he was leaving to come see me. That wasn't good, was it? But he could have said no to me. He knew that, right?
"Rache, you were fine with my friends. They're a bunch of immature losers who just do whatever Vinnie wants. I should have known that you needed some time to decompress from the tour before you had to deal with them."
"That's no excuse. I was a bitch, and I know they all hate me. Well, except Anna."
Did his friends think I was like Willa, too? Damnit.
"No one hates you, Rache."
"You're lying," I countered, and he didn't say anything for a minute. Finally I giggled, making him smile. "I so need a chance to try again with them. Maybe not the whole posse. Maybe maybe Vinnie and Tony would come to New York next weekend?"
He considered for a moment, stroking the back of my hand with his thumb, causing me to shiver a bit. I'd lost count how many times we'd had sex over the last couple of days, but it still wasn't enough. I knew Nick and I were good now. We'd lain in the hotel room, laughing and talking and making love, and now we could face anything, even his crazy friends and his bratty little brother.
"We were talking about going to Hawaii the other night."
"Hawaii?" He was talking about Hawaii with his drinking buddies?
"Yeah, Vinnie goes with his family every year, and our flight to Japan has a layover there. So we were talking about flying out there for a couple of days, and then I could go on to Japan from there. It was just drunk talk, but "
Grinning, I leaned over, kissing his cheek. "I've never been to Hawaii. If you promise me just one night all to ourselves, where we can have a nice dinner, and then a walk on the beach, I'm all for that." I could just see Nick, his blond hair in his eyes, wearing an obnoxious authentic Hawaiian shirt as we walked in the moonlight on the beach Okay, we'd just done that the other night in Miami, but that was a regular beach. Not a Hawaii beach!
"You can have me every night, buttercup," he promised, leaning over to steal a kiss before looking back at the road.
"No, there will be at least one night where we go to a luau and you guys ogle the hula girls. That's cool."
"Come here," he commanded and I moved over to be closer to him in the huge seat. He wrapped his free arm around me, pulling me close to him as he drove. "I already have the hottest hula girl in the world."
Could he really drive this way? I shouldn't think about that too hard. He seemed in control, right? "Tomorrow's Halloween. Can I wear my costume?"
"Yeah. I think Mom and Dad are having a Halloween party. We'll figure it out when we get there."
"We should be there in just a couple of hours, right?"
"Yeah. It only takes about three hours. We just stay on this road for a while. It goes right through the Keys."
"Lots of big bridges, right?"
He grinned, kissing me quickly. Okay, when I was snuggled up against him like this, it was easier to kiss him. We might drive off the road, but whatever. "Yes. Lots of big bridges," he told me.
"Will we have dinner when we get there?"
"Mom said something about the grill and Dad and steaks, since it'll be the first time the whole family is together in ages."
"Can we stop and get something for me to make? Then I can impress everyone with my mad cooking skillz."
He laughed. "No, then you'll show Mom up. You're a better cook than she is."
"Am I?" I had to ask. Didn't every boy think his mom was the best cook in the world? I know my brothers did. But my mom was the best cook in the world. Well, her and Dad.
"Cooking was never big on her priority list. She's fine. But dinner will be steaks and baked potatoes and salad from a bag or something."
"What if I make dessert? I need to bring something, Nick."
"Alright. We'll stop at the grocery store on the way down." There he went, indulging me again. I could get really used to that.
We were quiet for a bit, just listening to the radio and enjoying the drive. The car might be more than I'd ever need, but it was pretty comfy. Glancing behind me, I considered the back seat. Wonder if he'd ever had a girl back there? I probably didn't really want to know looking back out the front window, the scenery had changed.
"Where'd the highway go?"
"You are so cute, Rache. We're still on the highway. We're in the Keys now well, almost. I think we're technically in the Everglades."
"Cool! Are there alligators and stuff?"
"Probably "
"Do you have a map?" He looked at me like I'd grown an extra head, and I had to laugh, "I like to see where we're going."
"It's a straight road, Rache lots of bridges, water on each side. Nothing much to see." Before I knew it, I felt myself pouting, and he shook his head, moving his arm to hit a button on the console in front of us. The screen there came to life, showing us where we were on a map.
"Cool!"
I played with the map thingy in the console. Nick was no help here, he'd never
really figured it out, so I had to find the owner's manual in the glove box.
This thing was amazing. It showed us exactly where we were, and you could
program your destination in, too. Wonder if our bus had this. If it didn't,
it should. We'd never get lost again.
Rachel stroked my hair, and I glanced away from the road to smile at her.
We'd been quiet for a little while. She'd gotten tired of playing with the
GPS, content to stare out at the scenery, occasionally remarking about how
blue the water was when we could see it from the road. "You look stressed
again, bunny," she told me.
I did? I was totally relaxed now. I was looking forward to seeing everyone. Rachel was going to make some dessert that sounded really complicated, but she'd assured me it was easy and would impress everyone. By the end of the night, I knew my family would love her as much as I did.
Well, that wasn't really possible. No one could love her as much as I did.
"I'm not stressed, buttercup. Come back here, though." I started to put my arm around her and pull her against me again. We'd driven like that for a little while, until she'd become more interested in the GPS system.
She looked at the map and then back at the road, "Done with the big bridges for a while?"
"I think so yeah, just lots of this. Water and trees. Marathon is the really the next populated place." I'd been telling her earlier about how Marathon was the most built up island on the middle keys. That's partially why we'd moved there. My family couldn't imagine being more than 10 minutes away from a grocery store.
But she caught my arm, kissing my wrist, whispering against my skin. "You definitely look stressed out." She ran her teeth along my thumb, sucking it into her mouth carefully.
"I'm gonna be stressed out if you make me run off the road, baby," I warned, but she just smiled, letting go of my thumb and kissing her way up my arm.
"You can't stop driving. We don't want to be late." Moving closer to me, she nuzzled my neck, looking down into my lap. "But you can't show up with that sticking out, now can you?"
The beginning of an erection was evident in my shorts and I shook my head. Was it normal that she had this kind of effect on me? Just one touch of her lips on my body and Thor was ready for action. Fuck! She had me calling my cock Thor! Maybe Vinnie was right. I was so fucking whipped.
She unbuckled her seatbelt and slid over to me, and I stopped thinking about Vinnie. "Rache " I hissed, as she nipped at my ear. "We can't."
"Why not? This is a very big car." Her breath was hot on my ear and I closed my eyes for a second, trying to steady my heart as it raced in my chest, "You won't even notice my head down there."
She was what? We oh my god.
Laughing at my expression, she ran her hand down my stomach, hovering above the zipper on my shorts. "You have to drive carefully. I've never done this before. I don't want to injure you."
She knew that would get me, didn't she? I loved being her first anything. This would be a first for me, too. "Promise," I breathed, glancing between her eyes and the road. Fuck protesting.
Smiling, she moved away slightly, pulling my t-shirt up so she could touch my bare stomach. "Drive straight. Don't crash," she joked, leaning over and unzipping my shorts, pulling my cock out and holding it in her warm hands. Shit, that was amazing. I couldn't watch what she was doing, but I could feel it.
Normally, staring at this road was really dull. Not any more.
Fuck. There was no teasing me here, as she bent down and quickly her hot mouth surrounded me. I cried out, hitting the gas too hard. "Stay at 60 or so," she warned, letting me go.
"I can't pull over?"
"What's the fun in that?" She was toying with me now, running her tongue along the tip and getting me nice and wet not that I minded. 60. Right. I had cruise control on this thing. But suddenly I couldn't remember how to operate it. Whatever.
Eyes on the road, Nick. Steady 60 miles an hour. It would suck to get pulled over now.
She hummed around my cock, and I tightened my hands on the wheel, trying to fight the impulse to reach down and grab her hair or buck my hips up against her mouth. Fuck, she was so good at this. It was all tongue and hands, and I felt like the top of my head was going to blow off any second. I was not good at doing more than one thing at a time, especially when one of those things was getting a blowjob from my amazing fucking girlfriend.
I thought I heard her moan, and I carefully moved a hand to switch off the stereo. Now it was quiet, except for the sounds of her sucking my cock. I knew she was making more noise now, just because she knew I loved that.
"You're killing me, Rache," I whispered, and I felt her smile before she swirled her tongue around my head again, finding that spot on the back that drove me wild. Her fingers tickled my balls, and I groaned loudly.
Is that a clearing? Good enough.
I pulled over to the side of the road, stopping the car so we were facing out at the water. Rachel looked up, pouting at me. "I told you not to stop."
"You have no idea how hard it is to stop on this road and have any privacy. This is fate, baby. Hopefully it'll just look like we're enjoying the view." I glanced back at the road not 10 feet behind us and my heart stopped. This thing had really dark windows no one would be able to see in the back from the road.
"But I "
I stopped her, cupping her face in my hands and kissing her deeply. She scrambled to her knees, kissing me up against the window. I somehow knew she wouldn't fight me for long.
I fumbled to undo my seatbelt, still kissing her, and then I ran my hands all over her body, cupping her ass, finding her breasts and tweaking her nipples until she gasped into my mouth. "Is the backseat big enough?" she asked, and I nearly threw her back there.
"We'll
find out," I promised, tumbling over my seat to join her. She lay back,
her ass at the edge of the seat, and I knelt on the floor in front of her.
Perfect. Plenty of room.
I pinched my nipples through my soft cotton T-shirt, rewarded with a moan
as he watched me. I loved him like this, all flushed and gorgeous. Pulling
over was good. I wasn't sure what I would have done with myself if I'd gotten
him off. Then I might have had to touch myself, and that would have ended
up with us pulling over anyway, because it drove him wild to watch me do that.
Reaching into my pocket, I handed him a condom. "Did you plan this?" he asked, ripping open the package.
"No, I just know to be prepared," I assured him, wiggling out of my shorts and panties. The soft, cool leather of the car seats felt good against my bare skin.
I was half naked in front of him, and he groaned, leaning down to kiss my pussy. "Don't," I hissed. "I mean God " His fingers parted my lips and his hot tongue slipped against my clit, circling it and making me dizzy. "But someone might come " I whispered mostly to myself, not really caring anymore as my body started to respond to him.
"That's the idea," he breathed, the warmth of his breath against me making me shiver. I braced my feet against the seats in front of us and my moans echoed in the car as he sucked gently on me. Pulling my clit into his mouth, he slipped a finger inside me and I moved my hips in time with him. He had the most perfect tongue, and he knew exactly what to do with it. No way would I have been able to drive if he was doing this to me. No wonder he pulled over.
He slid his hands under my hips, cupping my ass, feasting on me, and in seconds, I was screaming his name, begging him to fuck me. Finally he sat up, slamming his cock into me before I could reposition myself, and I felt the orgasm tear through my body. I trembled against him as he kept up a steady pace, pounding me into the car seat and raising my legs up to his shoulders so he could slide further inside.
"Tight oh fuck," he panted, dropping his head against my chest as I clenched my muscles and rose to meet him. It was cramped and fast and delicious, and he stared down at me as he came, biting his bottom lip as his eyes locked onto mine.
Sated, we just looked at one another for a moment, and then burst into giggles. He tried to collapse against me, but instead slid onto the floor as I moved my legs, making us laugh harder. "And you said this car was too big," he teased, and I giggled again at the sight of him disheveled on the floor of his luxury SUV.
"I'll admit that it has its purposes. Now, get up, or they'll wonder why we're late."
Joining me back in the front seat, he leaned over with a huge grin on his face, stealing a quick kiss, "I'll tell them my insatiable girlfriend just had to have me."
"Oh, great. What a way to make a first impression. Mom, Dad, this is my girlfriend the nympho."
"Just the way I love you," he assured me.
