September 29, 2001 - Congratulations to Sudden Silence on going GOLD! They will be honored with their first Gold Record by the RIAA (500,000 units shipped) for their latest CD, "Pretend to Be Nice". Tomorrow night they will end their summer tour of the US and will soon be hitting the UK. Check back for more US tour dates soon! September 24, 2001 - Happy birthday to our little "Diva Princess". She's all of 26 today! In honor of her, we bring you... her day! September Twenty-Fourth: The Day of the Wanderer Strengths: Imaginative, Free-Spirited and Giving Weaknesses: Nervous, Unsettled and Neurotic (hey, that's what it says... quit hitting the webmaster!!!) Advice: Get your act together. Your unsettled life may be charming for a while but can grow tiresome. Perhaps there are those who would like to depend on you more. Don't be afraid to use your talents. Stick to one thing and take it all the way. Meditation: Home can be a state of mind. Others born on September 24: F. Scott Fritzgerald, Jim Henson, Linda McCartney Those born on September 24 are wanderers by nature and therefore either love to travel, or are somehow driven to do so. This theme of wandering or travel in their lives usually takes a real form, but can also be a metaphor for mental and emotional adventures as well. Indeed the literal and figurative are not mutually exclusive here. Reading, thinking, dreaming and traveling - both phsyically and psychically wandering - these are the kinds of activities which interest those born on this day. Most September 24 people never completely settle down, even though it may be what they think they want most. Often they move on to the next place, person or project each time thinking that this is finally "it" - where they want to be for a long time. In relationships and family matters, September 24 people may well be difficult to please. They are not at all easygoing people to live with and demand lots of time to themselves. Their mates must be understanding of their need for change and variety, and their often open flirtations and sexual attractions of all sorts. As to this latter area, September 24 people can seek out highly unusual forms of sexual expressions, if not in their daily life then in their reading and mental imaginings. (c) 1994, Gary Goldschneider and Joost Elffers, "The Secret Language of Birthdays" September 22, 2001 - Darien updated his tour diary - this week's recipie is for patriotic JELLO! (yes, he knows he's a dork!) Look for Sudden Silence in the coming months in just about every major publication and chat show including: Rolling Stone, Spin, Q (UK), NME (UK), The Face, US, People, Entertainment Weekly, Top of the Pops (UK), Saturday Show (UK). New UK tour date should be up soon and the band are currently deciding on the director for their new single, "Pretend to be Nice". *whew* They've been busy! September 14, 2001 - Thanks to our cool webdesigner (man, being in the big time rocks!), Darien will be resurrecting his tour diary. We hope to have Darien do an entry every week, but we'll see how that goes. You can find the diary here... September 11, 2001 - A Message from Sudden Silence... Greetings from Chicago thank you all for your emails over the last 24 hours, it's really touching that you took time out to write and ask us how we're doing. Your words are very comforting. We love you all so much and really appreciate your support. It is hard for us to be so far away from our adopted home of NYC right now. As you might expect, we need to take the tour down for a few days. We think the nation needs to heal a bit and it just doesn't seem right to be taking the stage tonight and sing pop songs. Therefore, the following dates are going to be cancelled and due to future commitments will not be rescheduled. We do apologize but know you will understand. 9/12/01 Chicago, IL - House of Blues We will resume on Monday, 9/17/01 at Clutch Cargo's in Detroit. Again, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Know that you are in ours. Much
love, August 1, 2001 - Okay, we know we SUCK for not updating. Anyone want a job as our web designer? James is way too busy for such things.... what with obsessing about JC 'fucking' Chasez and having a video on national television! That's right, MTV played our video today and it wasn't even 2am!!! So, go to the www.mtv.com and vote for us. Maybe you'll get to see it again! We promise, more updates soon, if our tour manager ever gives us a day off. July 2, 2001 - WOW! Guys, we are getting *headlining* tour! Tour bus, publicity shots and even a new video. And the best part is we'll be going out with our friends Tsar! (Don't worry, you'll love them...) See the tour page for our new dates. Everyone but Jeremy thanks our new best friend for the push! May 2001 - Catch us with Rufus Wainwright throughout the summer. See the tour page for info. March 2001 - We'll be all over the Northeast in the next two months. Check out dates on the tour page. January 2001 - "Pretend to be Nice" is due to be in stores in March! October 2000 -- Look, a site update! Rachel thanks everyone for their emails regarding her recent loss. As you might imagine, personal matters were a priority for us recently. But we're coming back strong. Sitting here with Jeremy (yes, Jeremy is baaaaaaack!), Darien and the fair Rachel and we're discussing a recording schedule. Look for our new CD in early 2001 - promise! February 2000 - Band update!!! Rachel's transcontinental! She moved to London in early 2000 and you can hear Rachel on Graham Coxon's new solo CD. James and Darien are busy writing new material for the as-yet-untitled CD. Sudden Silence plans to meet up nex month in New York to begin recording. November 1999 - Wow. What a year! Thanks for all your support. We'll be back in early 2000 with a new CD and hopefully a kick ass tour. March 1999 - End of an era, we know, but Jeremy and Sudden Silence have decided to part company. We'll continue with our touring commitments with a very special guest guitarist at some of the shows. We wish Jeremy all the best. December 1998 - Our first collaboration! "Long Island" will be released in early 1999. Look for us all over the US in early 1999 as we come to a town near you. September 1998 - Wow. "Minneapolis" is burning up college radio. Thanks guys, keep requesting it and maybe EMI will let us release another single. July 1998 - Video shoot for "Minneapolis" was a comedy of errors. Who said this rock star stuff isn't hard work. *grin* See the video on our multimedia section. June 1998 - We're shrinkwrapped! Go to your local record store and pick up a copy of "Crush" - hell, pick up a few copies for your friends and enemies too! March 1998 - Join us as we hit the road on our first supporting tour. We'll be with Blur (the Britpop god themselves!) in March and April. January 1998 - We're going into the studio! Wow. Look for our debut CD later this year. October 1997 - Welcome to the official Sudden Silence website. We're sure it will be better once James actually learns HTML! </sarcasm> |
